California is renowned for its iconic landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Hollywood, the Redwoods, world-famous beaches, and more. Less celebrated, however, are areas of extreme desperation plagued by poverty, homelessness, violence, and substance abuse.
Ten9 is in the beginning stages of planning a Night of Hope campaign in three of California’s most marginalized communities:
Skid Row—Covering 50 city blocks east of downtown Los Angeles, Skid Row is home to thousands of homeless and destitute people. Ten9 will couple the preaching of the gospel with a feeding program for Skid Row residents.
Watts: Ten9 will work in partnership with community organizers and ministry leaders in Watts to bring the hope of Jesus to an area that has been historically impacted by racism, poverty, and violence.
Slab City- East of Los Angeles, four and a half hours into the desert, lies an unincorporated “off the grid” alternative lifestyle town called Slab City. Ten9 has already begun to lay the groundwork to organize a Night of Hope campaign in this locale.
